Pawns

Known as the Knights of the Glorious Revolution, so named in commemoration of all those who fell in the first uprising. Their worn armor is indicative of the many battles they have led, from which they have barely emerged victorious. Their defeats are numerous and in honour of all the fallen they wear a lilac on their chests, never to forget what they fought for.

Knights

Formerly known for their bravery and courage shown on the battlefield. The mutations and ravages wrought on the battlefield have left only barely recognizable carcasses of what they once were and their presence serves only to bring terror.

Bishops

The Apostles of Holy Mercy are an order charged with passing on the divine word of Emperor Uldritch and converting all dissenters to the realm. Their blessings allow them to gain powers with which to decimate their enemies. The bishops receive their powers through the blessing of Emperor Uldritch, who is considered the emissary and representative of the Gods in Boardix Land and therefore a divine being and the only one capable of giving them the power and mission they crave. They wear a mask because they renounce their identity and in representation of Io as the all-seeing and all-understanding God and with the power of fire purify that which would not be considered worthy for Om and therefore must disappear from the lands of Boardix

Towers

The kingdom’s last line of defense. They only appear on the battlefield when all seems lost. They will not hesitate to wipe out allies if it grants victory to the kingdom. When not deployed in battle, they are found in the king’s private court, protecting him as his most loyal champions. If you ever encounter one, your only consolation is the knowledge that your death will be swift.

Queen

Aedwen, the witch of freedom. Consort of King Uldritch, known for her deep knowledge of magic. The most powerful and feared witch, capable of taking on a thousand and one forms. It is said that it was her marriage to Uldritch that enabled him to attain divinity. She has been his closest advisor and confidant ever since.

King

Emperor Uldritch, god-king of Boardix and herald of the faceless god. He has ruled the lands of Boardix for over a thousand years and only he knows what happened in the previous era. After going to the ends of the realm, he returned, declaring himself king emperor of Boardix. Today he is a mere shell of the past, but his magic keeps him alive. As the emissary of the gods, he interprets the gods’ mandate and carries out their orders to ensure that the kingdom stays where it is and that the gods don’t get bored of the game and decide to throw the game away and lose the kingdom.
